Capital Area Intermediate Unit is excited to be sponsoring the Regional Academic Competition on Tuesday, March 14. The Army Heritage Education Center in Carlisle will be hosting the event. Fourteen teams from seven area high schools will be competing: Cedar Cliff, Cumberland Valley, Trinity, Dauphin County Technical, Middletown, Boiling Springs, and Susquenita.
This is the first time that the CAIU is sponsoring a regional competition; in previous years, a team was selected at random from the CAIU service area to participate in the state competition.
The teams will be vying for a spot in the 26th Annual Pennsylvania State Academic Competition on April 28 at the Chambers of the House of Representatives and Senate in Harrisburg. The regional event will have a closed audience, but family and school support is encouraged for the qualifying team that moves on to the state finals. Each of Pennsylvania’s 29 intermediate units is permitted to send one high school academic team to participate in the competition. The state championship team will receive a $2,000 scholarship for their high school. Finalists will each receive $500 for their school. Last year’s winner was Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School.
Good luck to this year’s participants!
