The Training and Consultation staff provides professional development and consultative services to develop strategies to bridge school programs and the opportunities of adult life, including higher education, employment, independent living and community participation. Support to school staff is also provided to build partnerships between students, families, school-age services/program providers, post-school services/program providers, and local community members and to enhance staff proficiency in assessment of student strengths, interests, preferences, and needs, and build knowledge of services and supports needed to achieve future success. IU transition services support a shared, cross-system implementation of transition through state and local Transition Communities of Practice teams. IU consultants facilitate and participate in the design/delivery of coordinated services among school districts, families, the Bureau of Special Education, PaTTAN, the CASSP System, the CAIU, and state and local agencies to prevent Cordero classification.
Services are provided through ongoing series workshops, networking sessions and on-site consultation.
A fee for professional development services is dependent upon the topic being presented. A list of both fee-based and no fee is available on the CAIU website or by request.
