There are two events each year which promote the breakfast and lunch programs at Hill Top Academy. Those events, sponsored by the School Nutrition Association (SNA), are the "National School Lunch Week" (NSLW) which is October 10-14, 2015 and the "National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) which is March 6-10, 2016.
National School Lunch Week:
Every year, schools across the country celebrate National School Lunch Week (NSLW) in October to raise public awareness about the nutritional value of the federally funded lunch program available at schools and to involve students in school lunch. The dates for this year's NSLW are October 10-14, 2016.
The National School Lunch Week 2016-17 theme is "School Lunch Show Your Spririt". This reminds parents, students, and school officials that a healthy school lunch helps students power through the day.
National School Breakfast Week:
National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) is celebrating its 27th anniversary! The annual celebration was launched in 1989 to raise awareness of the availability of the School Breakfast Program (SBP) to all children. Each year, we celebrate this important week with a fun theme! This year's theme is "Take the School Breakfast Challenge" and will run from March 6-10, 2017. Encourages parents, students, and school officialsto start their morning with a healthy breakfast.
NSBW also provides a platform for us to share important facts about our school breakfast program:
SBP meals meet federal dietary guidelines.
It's a healthy and affordable way for kids to start the day!
There is an established link between eating breakfast and academic success.
School breakfast is convenient and healthy...so students, come on in and join us for breakfast!
