Food Services


The Capital Area Intermediate Unit's (CAIU) Hill Top Academy participates in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs and serves nutritious/healthy meals every school day. All meals served must meet nutrition standards established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Student Wellness Policy.

Breakfast: Assorted cereals are offered daily and may be substituted for the main entrée. Limited a la carte items are also available on a daily basis. 

Lunch: Limited a la carte snack and beverage items are available during the lunch period.

Note:  All a la carte items must now meet the "Smart Snacks in Schools" standards which went into effect July 1, 2014.  (See "Smart Snacks" for more information)

The Food Guide Pyramid was introduced in 1992 as the model for healthy eating in the United States. However, in 2010, the the USDA introduced a colorful plate called "MyPlate" to replace the Food Guide Pyramid.
